Wahiawa Wahines Represent

February 16, 2009
It started off as a New Years goal or was it a nightmare?
We had only one month to train and Alison cheered me on all the way!
Alison Bishop, Beth Rodrigues and I walked only once a week together and the rest of the time we were on our own training schedule. Which for me...was not much! haha

The start of the race...Hannah, Moana, Alison, Beth and Emma
After the start Emma and Hannah was no where to be seen. The three of us walked the entire race with a good pace. We stopped to smell the roses...at Watanabe Florist!

Volunteers came out to cheer for the runners.
...or maybe they were there just for Beth? In any case, that helped all of us stay pumped up! Thank you volunteers!

The race started at 0700

About an hour later we were under Nimits at 4 miles. Of course there was a potty break with a line of 15 minutes or sooooo. So make sure to deduct that from our time!

The street leading to Kaiser clinic where I work. But noooo, no detours!

Go girls go! Where almost there!

Alison walking through the final stretch! The finish line just ahead!

Yes! We did it! 8 miles walking in approximatly 2hrs and 35min (minused the bathroom break) LOL

Until next year....
Oh yah, I think I have something else planned next year. Shucks!

Ward Homecoming Valentine's Dance

Ward Homecoming Theme
"And the Lord called his people Zion, because they were of one heart and one mind, and dwelt in righteousness; and there was no poor among them.
Since our ward homecoming was scheduled during Valentine's weekend our activities leader thought it would be most appropriate and fun to have a dance. Not a typical dance just for sweethearts to enjoy, but for the entire 'ohana to be gathered together in one heart and one mind.
The decor was simple yet beautiful and it set the mood for a fun Valentines evening. We thank Emma Thomas and the RS sisters who decorated the night before.
A variety of songs for all ages were selected so that everyone could participate. The music man, Ardie Kepo'o graciously set-up his equipment and was our DJ for the night.
The salsa and merengue dance was taught by Andres and Maggie Advincula. The Ramos' and the Ferguson's came out the night before to learn the steps and to help get the dance started.
Here's a list of some of the songs that we all enjoyed:
The Chicken Dance
Hokey Pokey
Salsa
Merengue
Cupid Shuffle
Macarena
Electric Slide
Cha Cha Slide (Casper Slide)
LIMBO
YMCA
and much more!
As you will see from the pictures there were little need for chairs. Most of the evening everyone "wen buckaloose" on the dance floor.
"Kepo'o Sounds"
Brother Ardie Kepo'o pumping it up during the night!

Of course!

We started off with the Chicken Dance for the kids! There were no shy kids in the house tonight.
Daniel, Matthew, Nathalie, Shenny, McKenzie, and Sydney were the first to hit the dance floor.
